Company History Route 495 Software started in early 2009 when it was recognized than many companies within the I-495 beltway were starting to send software development jobs overseas. This was to reduce the cost of in-house development of this essential service. Richard Johnson, one of the company founders, believed that if the development team was well organized and competent, the overall cost of developing software could remain the same as developing it on foreign soil even if the software was written within the United States.A major problem with foreign-developed software has been getting it finished and documented. It is much easier to develop quality software when it is being developed locally where software engineers may work directly with the other engineers on the project. It was upon the belief that software engineering within the United States could out perform foreign-developed software in both cost and performance, that Route 495 Software was started. All of the software engineers presently working at Route 495 Software have been major contributors to major companies’ product lines. Many have been at the forefront of technological innovation creating inventions and advanced software algorithms. They all know the importance of getting it right the first time and providing excellent documentation so that the resulting software is maintainable and extensible. In January of 2010, Route 495 Software moved to its new headquarters at 170 Main Street in Groveland, Massachusetts.
